Our Global Services
GDPR came in to effect on 25th May 2018 and it directly affects your business. GDPR is a new legal framework which regulates how your business collects, uses and transfers sensitive data. The new framework is being introduced to shift “ownership” of personal data back to the individual, allowing him or her to better control how their data is being used by businesses. Your business will need to comply with GDPR or you risk facing substantial fines. Our services can assist you in assuring your business complies with GDPR.
January 1st 2020 was the dawn of a new era within data protection law within the US. Consumers in California now have the right to protect their own data and decide how companies use and earn from ones information.
Similar to the European GDPR, the CCPA is law. Therefore companies have to ensure that consumer expectations are met and the advice given is clear and concise. We at Logic Document are here to help both companies and consumers alike to ensure data is collected stored, shared or sold with the legal framework set out within the CCPA.
PIPEDA is the Canadian law relating to data privacy. It governs how private sector organizations collect, use and disclose personal information in the course of commercial business. The act contains various provisions to facilitate the use of electronic documents. PIPEDA became law on April 13, 2000 to promote consumer trust in e-commerce. It was also intended to reassure the European Union that the Canadian privacy law was adequate to protect the personal information of EU citizens.
International Data Flows
In the last 200 years we have found electricity coupled with the arrival of the internet in the late 90’s and we have what we all call DATA. That term Data is described as personal identifiable information and is exchanged globally. Data is now the number one commodity worldwide.
As a global society we now communicate a staggering 3 billion exchanges every second of every day. We can pick up our devices and send information at a click of a button to the other side of the world, this has all become an increasingly accepted part of how we communicate.
Let’s take a look at the way in which we do this, just to name a few:
Internet, email, video call, cell phones….
All the above are very different ways of communication but all equally important in the modern world and even more important when protecting your identity in that modern world. Every time we communicate we are creating international data flows, which to a time traveller from the past would look like magic or sorcery. Businesses that use your data are part of these data flows and have a duty of care to manage the safety of transfer within each data flow. We at Logic Document have implemented our data flow reporting algorithm which can be a great way of implementing the safe transfer procedures to ensure data integrity is not compromised.
Geographical boundaries are no longer barriers to communication, if you are part of a global data flow and would like to learn more then follow the links to our training/ sales pages for more information.
